My previous cat became obese he ate two large pouches (for two cats) plus dry food and tit-bits from us and at least one of our neighbours. The vet suggested we cut him down or he could end up with diabetes.

I cut him back to single pouches although I think he had the same amount but spread more evenly throughout the day. I felt mean as he was very agile and he didn't seem to have any adverse effects from being heavy.

Sometimes its cruel to be kind.

I don't know if it's my imagination, but I think my cat is looking thinner these days. I took the advice of feeding him 3 times a day with half a pouch and some chicken and now he's really enjoying the chicken again. Sometimes I don't even give him the food from the pouch but he doesn't seem to mind at all. He's loving that chicken

I haven't had the chance to check what cat food is available here yet, but I hope I'll be able to go in the next couple of days to check.

dry food is fattening i've fed mine on dry food for ages and mine arent fat, lol

Audrey is right, dry food is the worst possible diet for a cat.
I also used to feed a lot of dried food to my cats and none of them were more than slightly overweight, but now I've researched the subject thoroughly, I have realised that dry food could be damaging my cats' health so as of last week they have not had one single biscuit!

Mine arent on a diet.If dry food is that bad then why do products like iams and james wellbeloved sell them

plus it all depends if you have a greedy cat that just eats like a robot.You just give it small portions for get it to loose some weighth or go to the vets for advice, mine are still on dry food

I dont think that products such as Iams and James Wellbeloved dry food are gonna produce biscuits if they thought it would be damaging to cats health. Plus they are well known as being top brand names

LOL - because they make lots of money? That doesn't mean that the foods are appropriate for cats.

Don't take my word for it, do the research yourselves.

I am always very sceptical myself about anything like this, but I am now convinced that dry food is bad - it's like feeding your kids on sugar coated cereal and nothing else. Would anyone do that? I don't think so.

I've just ordered that book, it sounds really interesting from the bits and peices I have seen about it. It should be an interesting read.

Theres alot of people that buy the brand names cause thats what their pets like to eat.At the end of the day everyone has an opinion, and im sticking to dry food cause i think thats is best for my cats.
Im not the kind of person that just cause i read something i do it.
