Re: new cat doesn't eat catfood, only tuna and chicken!

Yes any change in diet should be done gradually to avoid tummy upsets.
Would love to see some photos of her.

Have you tried Natures Menu its all chicken and turky pouches and 100% no additives we run between that and High life , with dry food down all day and plenty of water, both were rescue cats and had only been fed felix before we got them

Re: new cat doesn't eat catfood, only tuna and chicken!

Hello all - thank you for your posts

I will go to Pets at home this weekend and get some samples of different wet food - maybe I'm lucky and she takes something. Thanks for the suggestions! I don't want to feed them Whiskas and Felix only of course, but I was hoping I could get a mixture of high quality and supermarket, to make it healthy but affordable...

My girl managed to accept 1/2 Whiskas Of so fishy and 1/2 tuna mixed together with some cat milk yesterday and today I 'coated' cooked chicken with the Whiskas chicken pouch sauce and tried to sneak some bits in too. She was not too offended but managed to leave the bits in the bowl and only ate the chicken

She was super keen on our mashed potatoes yesterday, another hint that she was fed on food scraps before I guess...
Can she have mashed potato? that might be a way to hide some mashed up catfood, maybe even dry food soaked in water? I am getting concerned that she doesn't get any of the nutrients that high quality dry food contains (it does, doesn't it??)

In another forum I saw the suggestion to mix some chicken stock or fish stock (as appropriate) to 1. warm up the food and 2. make it taste stronger and cover the nasty cat-food taste

Is this ok to do? Could I use normal supermarket stockcubes for that??

thanks!!

I would check on the salt content of stock in any form. I think stock cubes are high in salt content which may be bad for cats
