Catnip?

Hi.. I orderd a "peticure" nail filer for my cat.. unfortunatly it will take another 2-4 business weeks to get here.. So temporarilly I'm going to need to clip her nails just a bit.

I was wondering if catnip is an okay thing to give her before I do it. If I just put a little on the floor to calm her down &not look back at nail grooming as a horrible expierience.

I wasn't really sure to put this in "Cat training and behaviour", or "Cat health and nutrition"..

I really want to know if there is anything bad about catnip? My boyfriend is extremly skeptical about getting this. We don't want our cat to be some sort of addict.. I don't want her to have any sort of withdrawls or anything if it's something I start to give her before her weekly bath..

I really just want to know everything you think about catnip. Thanks!

Haha, no, it sends cats scatty, you need something that has a calming effect, like Feliway or Rescue Remedy I let mine have catnip for some fun, it's harmless and ccats love it....well most do.

Re: Catnip?

You can get it from your vets, it's about £9 a bottle but it's fab stuff, or you can get plug in versions. It's a natural cat pherimone and calms them down. Rescue remedy you can get from boots, it's completely safe for cats, you put some drops down your cats throat and it calms them.

they use their scratch posts, but taking the tips off helps prevents them getting hooked onto the furniture!

I usually check them on a sunday,
i check them weekly, and trim weekly-fortnightly
the back feet grow alot slower, so they get trimmed monthly, or when the tips get pointed

We have to clip our cats claws for showing. It's so if the cat gets upset and kicks off, they don't cause severe injuries, to the judges or anyone else close by
