Cat skin complaint

Can anyone help with this problem My friends cat is five years old and has a skin complaint around her face and on her neck she has had it for a while and although it does not seem to bother her it looks awfull She has taken her to see a vet and he has not been much help. Has anyone had this problem. The vet has suggested various tests but this is very expensive and my friend is a pensioner. Someone told her to give her cat an piryton? tablet but I dont think this would be wise any ideas?

Re: Cat skin complaint

Hiya Cris, Can't really give you any advice - not sure about the Piriton, this would only stop itching possibly but not presumably a cure? There are lots of great people here who maybe can help more. Unfortunately vets are pricey, would maybe your friend being a pensioner be able to go to the PDSA? Some vets will let people pay in installments, I know mine will..
I hope the cat gets sorted, poor thing

Re: Cat skin complaint

Hiya Chris

Welcome.

With something like this I would post on as many forums as you can.

Else has the owner rung her local Cats protection league? They may be able to help by giving advice.

Re: Cat skin complaint

Piriton is safe to use, and if it works on her then it could be she has an allergy. I discussed Piriton with my vet and it is perfectly safe to use.
Piriton works its way out of the system in 12 hours.

Re: Cat skin complaint

Piriton is for allergies, so goodo to use. Has the kitty got fleas or ticks, then go down the obvious line for that like Frontline
