Cat Advice Vets Or Not?

Hi all need some advice on my cat when i arrived home this morning 6am Jasmine came running up to me as usual. I noticed she started to hack like she had a hairball, she didn't cough it up only flem and a few bits of grass she did this 2 more times whilst i was watching then came in the house.

I've tried to give her water but she always drinks out our pond she wont have any, she's had a little cat food then started hacking it back up within a minute. shes done this a few times then gave up she keeps sticking her tongue out a bit like she's got something stuck in her throat or has gone down the wrong way she was also making noises like you do when your trying to cough flem up but nothing was comi

I'm a bit worried she's never had anything wrong before is it just a case of shes ate something from the garden and its upset her stomach (Frog again) ?? or could she have something trapped ? any advice would be great if a trip to the vets might be needed or if its just a case of waiting & keeping a eye on her

Re: Cat Advice Vets Or Not?

How old is she?? If she is a few months old - then she could have lost a tooth (as i found out last month with one of mine - although it cost me £90 to find out!!)

Very often cats eat grass and then are sick and out comes the grass and some spit - thats nothing to worry about.

But if she is choking / coughing then keep and eye on her and if you are not comfortable with whats happening then take her to the vet.

If you are worried speak to a vet, i would always take the cautious angle, better to be safe than sorry.

Re: Cat Advice Vets Or Not?

You should not let her drink from a pond, she's liable to pick up Giardia, ( probably spelt that wrong. )

Giardia - the usual sign is diarrhea

Hopefully it wont be that i'll keep my eye on her for a few days if she gets worse then she'll have to go vets
