[QUOTE=audrey1824;224807]You should not let her drink from a pond, she's liable to pick up Giardia, ( probably spelt that wrong. )

Just what I was thinking !!

Re: Cat Advice Vets Or Not?

My cats all drink from our pond (i had never heard of this illness). But surely you cannot prevent a cat from drinking from the pond, even if I blocked mine off, they would drink from the neighbours.

I've tried to give her water but she always drinks out our pond she wont have any, she's had a little cat food then started hacking it back up within a minute. shes done this a few times then gave up she keeps sticking her tongue out a bit like she's got something stuck in her throat or has gone down the wrong way she was also making noises like you do when your trying to cough flem up but nothing was comi

I'm a bit worried she's never had anything wrong before is it just a case of shes ate something from the garden and its upset her stomach (Frog again) ?? or could she have something trapped ? any advice would be great if a trip to the vets might be needed or if its just a case of waiting & keeping a eye on her

Hiya Jas,

Dont worry a diddly squat! Mine are all indoor cats, but in a hot spell when I'm at home I will let two or three cats out the back whilst I am sat there watching them like a hawk. Nearly all go for the first little bit of grass they can see and when I go back in, I can guarantee the same night one of them will have a hairball cough and up will come that bit of green. Happens every single time they eat grass or similar

Re: Cat Advice Vets Or Not?

Hiya, glad to hear shes eating ok etc...

My old cat from years ago had a similar sounding hack once - the vet checked him over and said he had likely chewed a rough piece of grass (the big blades that feel like a cats tongue), coughed it up but it probably scratched his throat on the way down or up. As a consequence, the scratch left a tickle which irritated him and possibly thought something was there to cough up.

He was fine after a day or 2, probably once the scratch had healed (being pampered and given numerous treats - think he was milking it come the end )

xxx
