any advice for a poorly puss with a carcenoma?
Hi I'm a newbie here, unfortunatly the reason I joined is because I found out today that my baby (cat) has a carcenoma tumor in her throat growing over her windpipe and larynx
She is twelve years old and I've had her from being a kitten. I was just wondering if anyone else has experience of their pet having the same problem and what they found helped with both treatment and making them comfortable. If anyone has any sudgestions I'd be gratefull. thanks |

Re: any advice for a poorly puss with a carcenoma?
No experience at all sorry sweet, and I really feel for you and your lass. All I can say is follow the vet's advice and consider her quality of life, plusses and minuses. Cherish every day with her and keep up with any medication that has been given. Sometimes we have to play God and decide when the time is right and you will know in your own heart when that is. This may upset you cos it would me, but keep an open mind, try every treatment that they offer you, and just think of her quality of life on a regular basis. My thoughts are with you and your kitty. Cx.

Another thought, dont know how she is feeding, but you could get tins of feline A/d from the vets. Its very nutritional food which that they can also lick down and its not like swallowing lumpy food

Re: any advice for a poorly puss with a carcenoma?
so sorry for your baby ... not sure where you are located but if you can get hold of the 100g cat food in foil pouches - they come with gravy or jelly option - they contain little morsels of meat and are very easy for a sick cat to take in
... in my case, my baby (20y) currently has a large gum abscess and lost a canine tooth recently - making all feeding exceptionally difficult - however she has progressed from just licking the gravy/jelly a week ago to now consuming all the meat and looking for more - so much happier - also she is on 10days of antibiotics - which has proved very difficult to administer as baby has never allowed anyone to touch her mouth - have managed to mix capsule contents with water and hide this in amongst 3/4 feeds so hopefully she can't detect it lots of cuddles needed ! x |

Re: any advice for a poorly puss with a carcenoma?
Hi Thanks for your replies so far, I'm located in GTR Manchester minstrel and i will bear the food in mind for if she starts to struggle. I thought she'd perked up a little bit but now it seems she's in a bit of pain so im waiting for the animal hospital in liverpool to contact me.
I agree Saynamore, as long as she is happy and has quality of life she will be with me, but as you say, when it comes to the time that she is unhappy and her quality of life is affected then i'll give her the kindest option. Until then its loves and cuddles all round |
