She's fine, doesn't seem under the weather, and still full of life, and still has an appettite. Im not too worried about her, im just putting it down to stress. They're both due to be wormed now that they're 8 weeks old, so Im going to get some stuff off the vet tomorrow.

She's quite underweight though compared to Alfie, (though he loves his food a bit too much methinks) so I just want to make sure she's ok!

where sells applaws??

Re: loose poos

Please don't change foods yet, give her time to settle in and see how it goes, it's quite normal for kittens (and puppies) to have the runs when they go to a new home, it's most likely down to stress and changing foods will only make things worse. Give it a few more days before looking for other reasons, so long as she is drinking she will be fine.

ok, no probs. just wondering if there's anything I can do to help her. I worry thats all.

as a side question- for future reference, as there any high fibre supplements, powders etc that can be added to their diet? or is just including more fresh meat such as chicken, tuna etc enough?

Re: loose poos

Cat's diet should be meat based they don't need fibre supplements. If you feed a high quality dry or wet complete food or a balanced raw diet you shouldn't need to give supplements. Tuna should only be given as a treat as it doesn't have a great nutrient profile.

What foods she on now?

Re: loose poos

Both Alfie and Evie are on Whiskas Kitten Pouches, which I know have a really low meat content- mostly water. They don't touch their dry stuff whatsoever- whatever brand I use!

Re: loose poos

Whiskas really isn't a good food. My two used to be on it before I looked into cat nutrition.

If you want to keep feeding wet food have a look at Natures Menu or Applaws. Tesco finest and luxury ranges are also pretty good. Orijen is the best dry food in my opinion. I feed mine a raw diet now with Natures Menu mixed in (as gravy) as a treat.

If you want to change foods give the little one time to settle in before changing and introduce the new food gradually.

yeah, no, Id definately give them a while to settle down and then introduce it over a period of at least a week. is there any way of mixing the wet and the dry together, just because they don't touch the dry stuff at all, and I know that they need it as well!

Re: loose poos

They don't need dry food so long as the wet is a complete food which Natures Menu is. But in all honesty my cats stunk to high heaven when they were having a whole pouch of Natures Menu each a day. They only get about half a pouch every other day between them mixed with raw meat and/or fish now and I notice no odour. The plan is to stop giving them any commercial food eventually.

If you want to feed dry you can mix it or sprinkle it on top of the wet food.

Re: loose poos

I gave both alfie and evie some chicken mixed in with dry food last night- no complaints. this morning they had a pouch of wet between them mixed in with dry food, and will be having more chicken later methinks. with regard to a raw food diet- are there any precautions you have to take- such as with chicken (salmonella?)

what benefits would they get from going onto a raw food diet eventually?
