Re: Fussy kitten
I'd be speaking to your vet again Claire-if you do they can eliminate what it isn't and start the ball rolling on what they think it is-hopefully something and nothing-good luck love
For all intense and purposes some charities simply haven't the resources to go into vet details of every kitten and so go with the majority so to to speak![]() |

Re: Fussy kitten
If she's being sick from the food it may be too rich for her - you could try just feeding her some raw chicken, most kittens love it and it's easy on their stomachs. If you don't want to try raw meat, Applaws chicken is also good and may tempt her to eat more. In the long run she'll need to eat a more balanced diet (such as orijen) but in the short term this could help to improve her appetite.
As for the vaccines I'd speak with the vet and go with their recommendation. Flea and worming treatment - there are lots of threads on the forum on this, if you do a search you'll probably find all the information you need and more ![]()

Re: Fussy kitten
One of my cats was very fussy when I first got him and would only eat poached chicken mixed with natural yogurt! i gradually just put some kitten dry biscuits with it bit by bit and then once he was a certain size and age and had been weaned abit more I took the attitude of if youre hungry you'll eat!
If the kitten is not feeling well her appetite will probably be suppressed. Keep us posted on your baby and wishing you goodluck with her. xxx |

Re: Fussy kitten
Hey all, thanks again for the advice. Tiffany seems now to be eating pretty well since I changed her wet food to gravy rather than jelly, although I find myself having to mix it with water as she seems to like it the sloppier the better and won't touch it once she has licked all the gravy off.
Unfortunately the sickness hasn't stopped, thats been once daily since Thursday I would normaly be at the vet before now but she was only there less than 2 weeks ago and got a clean bill of health and apart from her throwing up (usually on my bed) she seems fine. She is drinking and eating and running round the house half daft, doesn't seem to have any discomfort in her tummy area either so I'm not thinking its a serious helth issue and she is taking in a lot of liquid in her wet food and with the cat milk I bought her (the sickness started before the cat milk I actually bought that in the hope she would drink it and it would prevent dehydration). I'm thinking I might have to go back to chicken, I was feeding her boiled chicken thighs which I shredded for her and she loves it but I wanted to ensure she would eat cat food and not only chicken which is why I stopped the chicken for a while though now I come to think of it maybe the sickness started when the chicken stopped?!? Tonight I will be back boiling chicken and see if I can sort her out. Anyone got any suggestions for common things that make kittens sick? I'm also taking her back to the shelter this week for her booster and will discuss the vaccination with the owner. |

Re: Fussy kitten
She had half a worming tablet at the vet and is due the other half this week, haven't noticed anything in her sick but then I haven't really been paying attention
No doubt I will have the opportuinty to go through some kitten sick very soon unfortunately and I will look out for anything nematode like. The sickness started last Thurs though and she got her worming tab on the previous Tuesday so aren't worms unlikely? Anyway first signs of her not being herself or eating even less than she does or not drinking and I will be straight to vet!! |

Worms would be unlikely if she has been wormed providing it was an all in one wormer?? |

Didn't anybody teach you about paragraphs? Sorry but no paragraphs makes it difficult to read and I don't read where there are no paragraphs ![]() |
