I've noticed alot of cat foods have rice in them.. is rice healthy for cats? or can it cause problems in the long run?

Yeh mine are on kitten JWB Turkey & Rice, they seem to be doing well off it and sorted out the runny tums!

I noticed Applaws has 1% rice in it too

I'm guessing that rice is ok for cats , it's grains that are the no-no ?

If my cats have been a bit on the "runny side" (and the dog) I have given them fish or chicken mixed with a bit of cooked white rice. They liked it and it definately helped their tummies

Dry foods need starch in order to keep the kibble together. Rice is supposed to be the most easy to digest starch for dogs and cats.

If it's not dry food... the rice is unnecessary. Sure, it provides energy but cats weren't created to eat starchy foods.

As above rice is unnecessary more than anything. It's the best, most easily digested grain (best starch source for cats is potatoes imo) but offers little to no nutritional benefit.

I think its good if you want to feed a bland diet for dicky tummies served mixed up with chicken or white fish, a good binder I should expect on the subject of poo

Well I've had Alfie & Lola on the JWB turkey and rice kibble and it has sorted Alfie's tummy out, not much else will bless him!
