As it is many animal shelters will not allow you to declaw your cat if you want to adopt from their shelter. I had to sign a contract agreeing I would never declaw my cats.
Thats good,hi and welcome

I said only cruel people over in the states declaw as in not everyone in the states declaws I do have friends over there!!

No-body should be ignorant with any animals, there is no excuse for that, you reserch how to look after them before you get them! It is animal cruelty/abuse clear and simple, how anyone could think declawing is ok is beyond me.

Re: great cat free to a good home

It is very painful for the cat, even in the recovery phase, Like someone said, it would be like removing a human fingernail but down as far as the first knuckle!
It also includes moving part or all of a smal bone, the terminal bone.
I'm not going to post any pics because they are pretty nasty, but thankfuly illegal in most european countries

It is estimated around 25% of cats in America are declawed

If anyone wants to read more about the subject here's a link:
DECLAWING: What You Need to Know

The sad thing is it is purely for convinience for owners,
My advice: Buy a scratch post!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is not a joke!!! it is seriously TRUE

People like that always make me laugh. 90% of the time, the pets are far better behaved than the brats!

The pets are ALWAYS better behaved than the kids. I find alot of kids who don't have pets simply don't know how to behave around them, they leave and the cats are stressed. I hate having to tell kids who are visiting to not be so annoying to the cats, it is very awkward, but I prefer to do that rather than have the cats all stressed for hours afterwards.

I still say, get your face away from the cats face!!

It's all part of learning about animals anyway.
