2yr old male Tabby - a loving home needed please x

Hi

I have recently had twins and my partner and I had to rent a larger property to cater for our new family. Unfortunately our cat is not allowed to stay with us and nobody around us is able to keep him for us.

Alfie is currently secretly living in the conservatory and is let into the house a handful of times a day. But it is getting a little colder at night now and he needs a proper home to live in with warmth love and attention.

Alfie has been castrated, he will be 3 on 1st April 2012. I have a 5yr old too and he adores her, she has been rough with him in the past but he still loves her all the same and he loves a cuddle and a stroke but he also likes time to himself in the outdoors. He is well travelled and adapts really really well to moving home, which we have had to do a few times in the past couple of years.

To my knowledge Alfie is a happy and healthy cat and he really does need to be with someone or a family who have a warm home and lots of cuddles and love to give. As I say, he is great with children but I don't know how he would be with other cats. We lived with my Mum who had a big schnautzer dog and Alfie just stayed out of his way, he wasn't keen but he just kept himself to himself.

Alfie is free to a good home, he was my daughters 3rd birthday present and we really don't want to have to let him go as he is the ideal pet but we unfortunately don't have a choice.

Please contact me if you are interested x

Why don't you just hide him when you have inspections? My sister did that for years with 2 cats. Haave you got a written tenancy agreement? What does it say about pets? Why won't they allow 1 cat? Can you not pay extra for a deposit to cover any damage your cat may cause?

Please check you tenancy agreement. If this is a private rental ask your landlord directly rather than through the letting agency - my son did this with his cat. The agency said no pets but the landlord agreed to them having one cat.
I think I am right that these days permission cannot be unreasonably with-held. Please correct me someone if I am wrong in that assumption.

Definately! We are in the UNFORTUNATE position where we have no choice to be a tenant but already had the cat! Had we of known we would be in this situation things would be different!

Yes we have checked everything and spoke to the landlord. Mum was having him but due to sudden illness she can't now. I can't keep him as we can't fit a cat flap without permission from the landlord. He will have no access to the outside during the night and with 4 mnth old twins who will shortly be toddling I won't be able to keep any doors open during the day for him to come and go.

So is the landlord not allowing pets or just the cat flap

Why would he need access during the night? Most cats are kept in at night anyway. I didn't have a cat flap previously yet managed to keep 2 cats. If you are going to be home then you can let him in/out a couple of times a day & even provide a kennel if you were worried about him being outside & not able to get in.

One of my cats doesn't use the cat flap we have so only goes out when I let him out & he copes fine with this

Re: 2yr old male Tabby - a loving home needed please x

He has always gone out at night and comes home around 5am. I have new born twins and don't want him shut in during the night cos of the germs on the work tops and stuff and if I am honest, it is too much work for me to keep him in and keep litter tray and work tops clean on top of 2 babies and a 5yr old etc. It may not be for someone else but it really is for me. I just can't manage even if we were allowed to keep him.

Landlord says no cats! So if we fit a cat flap he will know we have a cat!

So that's the REAL reason

I don't understand people like you getting animals when you obviously can get rid of them so easily as soon as you have children? Why get them in the first place? How can you be so thoughtless as to come on a forum such as this, probably read counless posts about how bad the rehoming situation is, how many unwated dogs & cats there are & yet still act in such a way

Next time buy your child a toy cat for her birthday - that way you won't have to rid when you are all bored or can't be bothered with it.
