Re: Beware of Internet Scammers
Another good way of checking to see if someone is genuine... Get them to take a photo of the animal with something like todays paper, or (as we use on another website) a tin of custard
. If they can't/won't they're one of two things: lazy, in which case do you want to buy an animal from them, or, they're a scammer and can't, because they don't have the animal to do it. The internet is a dangerous place, if you don't protect yourself ![]() |

Re: Beware of Internet Scammers
I've had them before when I've had kittens for sale. They usually say something along the lines of.................'what is its present condition and your best price'
One time I thought I would call their bluff and emailed back saying the kitten was £3000 lol, and would you believe the cheeky sod came back to me saying they wanted the kitten and could they have my bank details to do a money transfer ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Re: Beware of Internet Scammers
The spam stuff is all automated, it's not actually people doing it, just computer programs, they find forums on google, and just automatically fill out registrations and post the crap you see.
WRT to the payment scams etc, like the one Chrissy mentioned... What they usually do is send you the amount, plus extra, you're then to forward the extra on to another person for them, then the whole transfer gets cancelled and you get left out of pocket. I.e. You sell scammer something for £1000, they send you £1500 and instructions to send on the £500 to Mr X. You do this, then the whole lot gets recalled by the scammers bank* and you're £500 out of pocket. *It's not actually the scammers bank, usually some poor soul who's been scammed of their details, so it's not really the banks fault |
