Need a cat run

Hi

I am moving home soon and at my new place I want to have a cat run made.

What I would like to know if there is anyone in my area (Reading) who could do this for me

I would like the run to come off the lounge window so that they can have access when they like. I would need someone to come and have a look at what I need, quote me for it, make the run and deliver and install it.

Please help.

Re: Need a cat run

would that be supply and fit or are you looking to find someone to fit it for you locally?

Re: Need a cat run

Hi Mezzer, we do supply cheaper versions but they are not bespoke and the timber is only half the thickness, as is the metal mesh used. ours are usually larger than any room in the house, and come with a 10yr guarantee.

here is an example

or you could have something like this for £600 but obviously you cant really sit in it and enjoy your cats.

Full length Roof 9ft x 4ft Cat House And Run/Cattery on eBay (end time 30-Mar-11 16:23:34 BST)

there are also enclosure panels available on ebay and other sites for around £20 which may be a good option for you.

its really a case of what your budget is as to how big you can go.

Re: Need a cat run

Mezzer, I am sure 'Mr Goldleaf' wont be willing to share his costings/profit margins with us....but I reckon that any skilled tradesman in the SE would be charging around £200 a day for labour alone.....costs for wood and mesh really add up once you look at the multiples involved....so I don't actually think £1000 is bad if it is the size shown and the quality of the above post. Of course if you or OH are handy and have a few days spare then I am sure you could construct something your selves for far less money.
(oh....and I am not an employee of Goldleaf, but have carried out a fair few building projects in recent years and have learnt lessons by trying to do things on the cheap!)

Re: Need a cat run

Hi PP. you are right, we work at 150 per day before tax, plus fuel, mesh and timber, and as you are aware its not a bad price, we dont make much profit but keep working steadily. people still want to pay the prices they were paying in the 80's

but we are honest and if you are handy these things can be home made with a little thought and research.

Re: Need a cat run

Thanks for all of the advice

I'm not looking for "cheap" or even "bespoke", it was a bit of a shock when quoted a £1000.

I am going to think about it and plan my garden area first then contact "Mr Goldleaf" regarding my request and my budget.
