When we first got our cats, they were losing so many collars that I looked into making my own for them with fabric at hand (i do love a bit of craftiness and sewiness) ... they stopped losing them eventually but I carried on making them and I'm now selling them on Folksy and Etsy.

Ooh you must have a nicer pet shop than we do! In terms of breakaway collars ours only sell plain webbing ones; they do sell some elasticated ones but personally I prefer the buckles so wanted to try and make something a bit different for my cats. EG they are wearing collars with pumpkins for halloween on at the moment.
(I do agree that not everyone is as interested on their cats' collars as I am!)

I think they look great, really lovely designs ( never seen anything like those in a pet shop!! )
I do like a bit of cat bling, and I love the idea of seasonal collars.....Xmas theme has to be a top seller? You should post these on Ebay.

Thanks Paddy! I usually find crafty things don't do so well on ebay, but I think I might try it out for Christmas... gotta be worth a try especially as it's a better known site than folksy & etsy.

I read an article that said that one of the few areas where spending was up during the recession was people spending money on their pets!!! Lucky cats & dogs! (and guinea pigs and hamsters and lizards and snakes and fish...)

Yes, but these are not really so 'crafty', they are appealing to the pet owner who cannot have a xmas tree, but would like Tiddles to have a nice sparkly collar.
Also...if you get the 'tags' right, google will pick up the ebay listing and show it for general searches for cat collars.
(can you tell I have used that search tag a lot in my quest for suitable collars for my gang?)

You are so right about the tree thing, I was so looking forward to our first christmas in our own house, but now I'm coming to the sad realisation that I don't think we can have one with our cats ... they would pull it down every day, and probably set the burglar alarm off... Maybe I'll try an artificial tree, at least that gets rid of some of the mess (but not as heavy as a real tree, so probably more likely to get knocked over in the first place...)

The collar we get is made by Rogz, i think its US company

We used it for black cat when he went missing and collar fell off when he got caught somewhere which is good

They actually same price as yours. Wonder why you dont get it in the UK?
