Re: Cute Cat Collars!!

Welshjet: No I don't do harnesses at the moment, although it is on my list of "Things to Think About", unfortunately this is quite a long list! I was at the London pet show at the weekend and looking at the construction of harnesses - I'd not seen one up close before - and I think there's no reason I couldn't make one with the proper hardware. I've had a few people ask about them so bringing out a small range will be on the cards at some point; I wouldn't be able to have every collar design as a harness - too many! But maybe I could offer any of my designs as a custom make? Any opinions on that?

Emma-Jayne - good idea - another thing for my List! Velcro is something I've been meaning to test, as in my mind I have a suspicion that actually the breaking weight for velcro might not be that much less than the buckles, depending on the width; it can be pretty strong. So I need to do some testing. Also I haven't had the joy of sewing Velcro before - especially not the thin pieces I'd need for this project - so I'll need a little practice!! I am going to have a look on ebay now to see if I can find some to order, I will let you know how I get on and if they work out. They should be quite a bit cheaper than my usual collars as it's the buckle that is the bulk of the cost.
Gorgeous cats by the way! Awww.

The Union Jack collar is gorgeous, Rachel!
I want to give that one as a present. Can we arrange that? I would like you to send it to Brazil, so can you check the shipment chargers for me please?
Thanks!

Re: Cute Cat Collars!!

Just a wee bump as this thread dropped off the first page!
Latest news...
I now have some collar charms in stock which are all £1.50, these are being added to my shop fairly slowly due to the fact I can't rearrange the order of items, & don't want to push all my collars off the front page!
http://www.folksy.com/shops/MogsTogs?shop_section=cat_collar_charms

I have also looked at Emma-Jayne's great idea for the velcro kitten collars and I have been able to sew the velcro neatly, hurrah! She will be giving me a review of them so I can finalise the design, and then they will be for sale too.

Do give me a PM if you want to buy, or post here. Thanks!

Re: Cute Cat Collars!!

Just wanted to bump again :-) New designs are in all the time.

Currently working on my own website shop which should be ready in a few weeks... it is taking up all my time! I am not on the forum so much anymore as our office moved to open plan, and I can't go online much anymore, boohoo! But rest assured I'm still here and always respond to my PMs if anyone has any questions or wants to place an order this way.

You mentioned abouve that kittens aren't heavy enough to break away the buckle. So how about making a training collar for kittens with a small fastening of velcro instead of the buckle so it will come undone with a smaller weight. These would be for indoor only and just to get kitten used to a collar? I have been hunting high and low so these saftey training collars may be a good seller. You could always make them a bit thinner so they don't have that I'm wearing mummy's collar look!!!!

I know a kitten would probably be able to take it off. But with supervised try on times and distractions with a toy they would be used to it in no time.
I would like to make one myself but my disabled hands don't work so good

If you would like to make a prototype I would happily pay for it and trial it for you and maybe some others on here with small kittens might?

Please feel free to shoot my idea to bits

I'm from the school of it never hurts to mention

Either way I'll be getting some of your festive designs for both my cats so they can each have a festive wardrobe

Kind regards,

Em xxx

Tabitha (11 weeks) and Moriarty (3 years)

I absolutely agree and I'm very interested in kitten colars so they get used to them, I did buy a pair for my 4 month old kittens from pets at home but they are still too big. Like Em said, I want them to be used to it before they wear their big girl collars.

If you have any velcro kitten collars currently please pm me!

Thanks a lot
Em
