A world in the near future where cats are illegal unless you buy them at huge expense. . .girl finds a cat, starts to love it, ends up running friom the authorities to save its life. That's the basic idea of The Last Free Cat, and I have to say it's not only a book for every cat lover but a fantastic page-turning thriller to boot! Loved it!
Wonder if anyone else has come across this book, or has another favourite cat novel?

Not exactly novels, but the books by Doreen Tovey about her siamese cats Soloman and Sheba are absolutey wonderful - Cats in the Belfrey, Cats in May and The New Boy are the titles I can remember.

Ok, sure they're great, but there are loads of non-fiction books, and I was more interested in fiction.
