Re: New kitten and big bro bunny
Usually, a kitten should be litter trained by the breeder and if the kitten were a little older, she would be litter trained. As your little girl is only 8 weeks, it is entirely possible that her litter training may be incomplete. Having said this, though, most kittens know how to use the litter tray by 8 weeks. It could just be that she is settling into your home.
Lots of praise when she does the right thing and keep popping her onto the litter tray if you see her squatting in readiness for a wee. Lets hope you get this sorted and she becomes a nice clean girl soon. ![]() |

Re: New kitten and big bro bunny
In my experience, kittens are very easily litter trained. I have always rubbed their little paws in the grit and the little darlings seem to know what to do.
I have not heard of a kitten/ cat peeing on your bed ![]() I hope you get it sorted soon ![]() |

Hi and thanks for the replies. She is actually litter trained has been since the shelter got her at 6 weeks and she knows in my house too. She heads off on her own to poo and occasionally wee in her box this just seems to be a behavioural thing. I thought things were going well as she had been on the bed this morning with no accidents however my sister accidently let her in this morning while i was at work, she ran right onto bed squated, peed then jumped off.
She seems to know its wrong and she knows where her box is its like some crazy attention seeking act or something. Please somebody help i dont want her to not be allowed in certain places, im hoping because she is so young this can be dealt with in time. |

Re: New kitten and big bro bunny
OK - it is very frustrating. I got it wrong. She is litter trained but has a bad habit. Have you tried feliway plugs?
Does the kitten sniff before she decides to squat? If so, have you tried spraying deoderant on your duvet? I say this latter because I am finding that when I spray this around the favourite areas where my queens used to urinate/spray, they no longer do this. Have you asked the vet whether she could be experiencing pain when she has a wee? Its possible that she has the beginnings of something irritating her. Run out of ideas now ... perhaps others will be able to offer better suggestions. Hope you find a solution soon. Best purrs |

Re: New kitten and big bro bunny
some of my kittens like to go on the pile of washing waiting for the machine , even though there are plenty of littertrays around the house and another favourite place is behind the sofa ..............if its when you are not in the bed you could try putting a plastic table cloth over the bed and maybe even putting her food on a tray there . she may not like where the litter tray is or the litter you are using or else she is just trying to be controlling

Re: New kitten and big bro bunny
Hi
I've got five cats and six rabbits and they all seem to get on OK. When I got the last two cats I only let them see the rabbits under supervision initially. If they are all out in the garden together (which doesn't happen very often as trying to catch the bunnies is a nightmare - they usually live in a fenced off yard!) the rabbits chase the cats and the cats just jump up on the fence when they get fed up with the game! It's quite amusing watching my tiny netherland dwarf chasing my large black and white moggie ![]() I hope your two will get on as bunnies like company. Lumpy |

Re: New kitten and big bro bunny
Hi all, thought I'd update. I was using litter tray liners but noticed she was getting her little claws stuck in the plastic so have now removed it. She now pays much more attention to her litter, she scoops all the litter into a mound and perches on it before doing anything and she is now covering her poo which she wasnt before, I'm happy that she is comfortable with the litter tray and she hasn't done anything anywhere else in the house. I'm still not comfortable letting her into the bedroom though, in the blink of an eye she can be up-pee-down, hopefully another few days of retaining her in a small area while nobody is home will enforce the litter tray. The first two nights we had her she was sleeping beside us and didnt wee I think it was when she woke up and we were still asleep that she decided this was a good way to get attention. Maybe I'm goign to have to look for a pet behaviourist or maybe I'm just going to have to accept that my cat pees on my bed and I cant get cudles at night

Re: New kitten and big bro bunny
Is your 5 yr old bun neutered? You may find when your doe reaches sexual maturity 12 weeks usually they start to get hormonal, they may have a few lovers tiffs until you get her done. Give them plenty of excercise, space and things to do that will help. Never seperate them, even to go to the vets unless they obviously fight.
My buns get on fine with my cats, i woud never leave them unsupervised though.
