Kitten Advice

Hi everyone.

I need some advice. We are thinking of adopting a kitten - we are unsure as to whether to get 2 kittens and whether to go for female or male. Is there generally any temperament difference between sexes and is having 2 cats just as much work as only having 1? Any advice is welcomed.

thanks in advance

Re: Kitten Advice

Hi, welcome to you.
2 together would be nice, they will be company for each other. You will have to make sure you get them speyed/neutered early enough to avoid any unwanted kittens if you get a boy & girl. Boys tend to be more soppy than girls, but it just depends on the cat and what you prefer really

Re: Kitten Advice

I would get 2, preferably a girl and a boy..

That way they can grow up together and keep eachother company when you're not there.. it's great fun watching kittens play together aswell!

All cats have their own litle personalities but generally speaking I've found the boys to be more cuddly and soppy (mummy's boys!) and the girls very sweet and affectionate on their terms! But also more independant than the boys.

Re: Kitten Advice

I WOULD GET TWO IF YOU CAN
I love kittens having feline company I feel they need it, I agree boys are soppy but when girls have been neutered they are soppy too
What breed are you thinking of getting?

Hiya, it is always better to get two for companionship and not just saying that as a breeder. Especially if you go out to work it always good for your new kit to have a playmate. If you get two together as kits it does not matter what sex as they will grow up together and its a lot easier than if you get two with a larger age gap. Just make sure you get them spayed or castrated at 6 months then you dont have any little accidents, then you can get two from the same litter maybe which is even better

Re: Kitten Advice

I think definitely 2, they are less work that 1 by his/herself as they can amuse each other, much better for the kittens too. I don't think sex matters as long as you get a couple of complimentary personalities, thats the most important thing. If you have them both from the same litter, then the breeder should be able to tell you which pair are particularly close, it sometimes happens.

Re: Kitten Advice

Thanks for all your replies. We dont have a breed in mind as we are thinking about adopting. There have been 4 kittens abandoned at a local vets and we are contemplating rescuing 1 or 2 of them.
