Hi all,

I have had my two beautiful little kittens for 2 weeks now, they are fantastic little girls They do everything together, eat, sleep, play, chase, etc BUT they seem to be scared of us (me and husband) which is very sad as we love them so so much and are trying our best to be perfect!

When we go to stroke them they duck and dive and shy away, god forbid if we try and pick them up!!! They hate cuddles

Are we doing something wrong? Does anyone have experience of this? Do you think they will eventually come round? We have tried just playing and not actually touching them to see if they come to us but they just dont give a monkeys!! Bless em.....

I used to have two kittens that just loved each other. It took months for them to stop hanging around in a group.

It takes time for cats to trust and considering it only 2 weeks they are still getting used to everything. Just be patienced and don't get angry as cats can get scared easily.

My cat now is 10 months and is scared half the time. I been patience with him and it's paying off. He never used to purr but he is now.

Aww my kitten hocus was just like this when we got her it was so frustrating but it has taken a month and now she is happy to be stroked and sometimes cuddled but is no longer scared of us !
I separated her from my other cat for an hour a day and just spent time playin with her and to start with just sittin in the room and giving her afew cat nip drops evey so often she soon learnt that strokes are quite nice ! she cant resist playin with a bit of string thou so that mit be a good way for you to start a bond good luck !!!

Lottie didn't like cuddles when we first got her, took her about 6 months to come round, now she'll quite happily sit in my arms for a bit, but still won't sit on my lap, unless it's a special occasion

Leo's pretty much the opposite, hates being picked up but will sit on my lap (won't sit on OH), he was very ill when we rescued him so I don't know what he would've been like.

as above, spending time with them playing, stroking and giving some treats should soon bring them round

My kittens are 12 weeks old, one loves cuddles the other is slowly coming round, I think he is more independent.

I just make sure I stroke, hold and cuddle him as much as he will allow and slowly the length of time he will allow me to touch him is increasing.

My cat is 17 and he isnt a cuddley cat but if you sit on the floor he will come over and roll about etc and wait to be stroked but he wont get on your lap.........just as well, he a dribbler when purring so at least its the carpet that gets wet!!!!!!

Some kittens are frightened when you pick them up, to kittens it's a long way up their
I find getting down on the floor to play gives them more confidence (you don't look as big to them) and before you know it the are climbing all over you

Hi, Thanks so much for all your replies, i suppose i just expected them to love cuddles as much as i do!!

They are moggies, tabby cats, they are beautiful x
