Ok now to my biggest worry, we didn't know we were getting our kitten, he had been with a family and after 3 days they changed their minds so my friend ( who owns the mummy cat) asked if we would take him, we already love him to bits and he is setling in really well BUT...we go on holiday in 3 weeks time. I am getting worried that this will be so confusing for him, the owner of the mummy cat has said that she will take him back for the 2 weeks that we are away, but I am worried that he will have forgotten all about us and it will be like going back to the start when we bring him home again

i guess its ok since you'll be coming back to take care of the cat again...

I would have liked him to be able to stay in the house since he is getting used to knowing his way around but he is far too small to be left alone and no-one can come here so the only option is or someone to take him, hopefully he will settle back in again when he comes home.

soozeej - hello and welcome. Is the new baby already with you at home or is he still with the person who owns the dam (mum cat)?

If the kitten is still with the breeder, would the breeder consider keeping the kitten for you until you get back from your hols, for the very good reason you explained on here? Would this person consider keeping the kitten ONLY for the duration of your hols?

Hi kitten is already with us, it all happened so fast to be honest I feel we didn't really think it through about the holidays. The owner of the mummy cat was keen to have kitten re-homed asap as she has newborn puppies too! She is happy enough to take him back for the 2 weeks that we are away but I just hope its not going to be too confusing, in an ideal world i wouldn't have been looking to take on a pet until after my holidays!

He will settle back in with you even if he is a little confused at first - I would say in the circumstances it is the best solution plus he will be far more comfortable there than anywhere else.
