Re: Ok.... Cats, Tell Me Everything!

Thanks.

I have been looking around the GCCF website and other cat websites. I quite like the look of the Ragdoll, even though they look the total opposite of a Maine Coon, and seem to have a pretty different temprement too. So I think the best thing for me is to go to a cat show and have a look and a chat to some people there, if they have time.

Where would I find a cat show near me?

I also need to have a think about keeping the cat inside, as we usually leave the back door open so the doga have free access to the garden. So maybe a re-think is needed, so the cat doesn't escape. Although some of the Ragdoll websites state they can be let out 'under supervision' in the garden. Is this correct? Does that mean they won't just disappear anyway if you're there to keep an eye on them. All the websites also state that Ragdolls must never be let out as they are too trusting.

Is either breed likely to get along with dogs better?

Also, from browsing the internet, I see some breeders charge more for show than pet animals, is this the norm or ar ethey dodgy? (can't help but compare to dogs, and if they were dogs it would be!) Also, some websites state the cat will be sold on a contract, which is fie, but with 'terms', is that also the norm, and can someone explain please?

Thanks once again.

You can let any pedigree out under supervision, but unless you have your garden fully secure, they could try to climb or go under a fence ect, unless you're quick enough to stop them. You could harness train it though

Both get on with dogs normally and kittens adapt very quickly anyway. Linda's Raggies(rottiesloveragdolls) live with a Rotweiller, lol and they get on just fine

Some breeders do charge more for Show, than pet, personally I don't, for breeding cats I do and a lot of breeders do this. Terms can be anything, usually not to be bred from, not to go outside, not to be sold on or given to rescue, things like that
