What do you think of this ad?

i just came across this advert and wondered what you all thought of it. £100 sounds very cheap and is making think it may be a scam or they aren't full bengals. What do you think?

adorable bengal kittens

Re: What do you think of this ad?

It looks very, very cheap for Bengal kittens. They are not described, as the previous poster suggested, as 'bengal looking', but as 'good looking bengal'.

They are also described as registered, which is promising.

Might be worth getting in touch in case you are missing a bargain. Of course, it also depends on what you want. If they are registered, and have a pedigree certificate, then you will be able to show them at GCCF shows being of bengal breed (if they are that quality, of course).

To be honest, breeders of registered kittens are very unlikely to sell in the way this seller is advertising. A registered breeder will have their own prefix, and will almost always mention this in an advert.

If they are not registered/have no pedigree, then you won't be able to show them, but if you are only after a pet, then maybe thats not an issue for you.

Also, though I would never suggest that this seller would try to do anything wrong, it might be worth you familiarising yourself with what a GCCF pedigree should look like.

Re: What do you think of this ad?

That's definitely a scam. Bengals with pattern as good as that are a lot more money, and there are no real details about them. Aqua Fina is a very popular brand of mineral water in the USA and I am fairly sure it's not readily available here.

Why not reply and see what answer you get... I bet you a Bengal kitten the response will be from someone with a yahoo or hotmail account; will not mention the breed; will ask for shipping and will have suddenly moved to Scotland or the Isle of Man!

There are a lot of scammers on that ad website.

Re: What do you think of this ad?

Funnily enough I was looking on that same website today at puppy adverts and found & reported 7 in one breed alone as being scams.

Which led me to write a post on the Dog section today about how to spot potential scam ads.... The below is for puppies but most of it equally applies to kittens as well!

------------------------------

There are so many scam ads around these days, but can you tell which they are?
  • They are usually on ad sites such as Gumtree, Preloved, Oodle or minor ad sites e.g. itsmymarket.
  • The puppies are always far cheaper than the current price for the breed, e.g. under £200 for a 'pedigree' breed.
  • You rarely see a photo of the whole litter, just a pic of one puppy.
  • The breed name may be spelled wrongly, or listed incorrectly, e.g. American spelling not UK.
  • 'Potty Trained' and 'shots' are not words used by UK breeders, but common in the USA.
  • There may be mention of ear cropping in breeds which are often cropped overseas - this practice has been illegal in the UK for over 100 years.
  • The photo on the ad may not even match the breed in the description in the ad's main body!
  • If you do reply, you get a fairly standard response which doesn't even mention the breed. The sender usually has a yahoo or hotmail account.... and even though the puppies were advertised in Milton Keynes/Oxford/Nottingham/wherever, very suddenly and mysteriously they have urgently had to move to the Isle of Man, Ireland or Scotland. Example of the standard response is below.

This is one of my favourite all time scam adverts!

(....and by the way, there's a Cute belgian Malinois puppy in Milton Keynes which is also a schnauzer! )

And this is one of the standard responses if you reply to the ad:

Hi there, thanks for the mail.I want to thank you for your mail and i very much appreciate your interest in my puppies, I still have four puppies available,They are 12 weeks old now.2 Male and 2 Female,Names,,,Matt,Kent,Daisy,Lisa. All puppies are hand raised and home trained with all papers,Puppies are KC registered and are healthy as can be! .They are Registered Pedigree Health Guarantee, Certificate of Veterinary Inspection, Micro-Chipped (In case ever lost or stolen), Current on all vaccinations, Wormed, Puppy Packet (Toys, Dog bones, Vaccination schedule and history, Crate Training info and Potty Training info.i will really love that you promise me that you are going to take good care of the puppy for me,so in guiding me look for a lovely home for them and as you know they are very delicate creatures and need a lot of care and devotion,i will
like to know the following from you:
Do you have kids?
If so,are they good with pets?
If Not then Do you have some one that will always play with the puppy?
Have you ever raised (Owned) a puppy before?
Do you Own Other Pets?
How is your Working Schedule?
Are you getting the puppy For your Self or for Some one Else?
Do you own a house if so Do you have something like a playground(Back Yard) where you can take the puppy to play on?If not then is there some where like a A Park Near Your Home Where You can take the puppy On Short Walks?
Do you want to Breed?
How Soon Do you Want the puppy?
How many puppies do you need?
I will be happy to get these details from you so that it can guard me in making a manual which the puppy can take along which will guard you on basics of taking care of the puppy and also basics on feeding.I am Presently Located in Isle of man where the puppy will be coming from,So get back lets see how they get their home..Also if the puppy needs to be deliver, then get back to me with your full house address, your full names, your phone number, post code and your city, so that i should contact the transport agency right away for delivery reservation,And You will just have to Pay the total sum of 190Pounds for each puppy including delivery fee,Here is my contact number:07024016979.Call me for more information on puppies.THANKS

So what to do?
Don't get stung! If you suspect the advert is a scammer, and receive a resdponse like the one above, do not respond any further* and do not send any money. Report the ad to the site where you saw it.

*If you like you can send back a standard response of your own.... as I have been tempted to do... perhaps bringing into question the advertiser's parentage, advising him/her to go forth and multiply, and get a legal job!

I wouldn't trust any site that have marmoset monkey babies for sale . A lot of it seems to be scams

That's exactly what I was going to say! Definately don't think that type of water is available here.
