Re: yuck cookie ate a spider

My cats absolutely love insects! Be it spiders, moths, beetles, earwigs, flys... they have to hunt it down and eat it!

They go absolutely mental when they see or hear one. Their fave at the mo is moths, they play with them for a little while then eventually eat them. The sound of it's body crunching in their mouth is just nasty. I just let them get on with it, they have done it since day one and hasn't caused them a problem yet.

I actually encourage them to get the spiders as I am terrified of them!

It's aslo good because if a wasp or a bee has gotten in the house somehow, Bailey will let us know. He sits there acting strange and meowing and meowing over and over. Then we go and see and find a wasp (he wont go too near or touch them though, it's as if he knows they sting!). Cleo doesn't go as crazy as Bailey.

Re: yuck cookie ate a spider

Errrrrrm well I'm paranoid about flies with having 7 litter boxes about the house. As soon as one gets in I am there with the fly spray. Just will not tolerate seeing a single one of them indoors, grrrrr.

As for spiders, I am an arachnaphobiac (sp?) another blessing of having indoor cats, they do kill and dispose of a lot of these before I jump out of my skin with them. Only yesterday I filled one of the bathroom sinks with water to have a facial wash and there was a tarantula doing the backstroke in it, eeek I only noticed at the last minute and had to flush it down the plug hole. Just hope its mum doesnt come after me for revenge or owt like that

Re: yuck cookie ate a spider

EWWWW - Spiders down plugs I hate plug holes!!
There was an enormous one on the wall the other night and wuss hubby wanted me to deal with it but it was too big so we left it deciding it'd be in the bath for disposal in the morn - which it kindly obliged to!! Hubby rinsed it down but he is a novice and didn't use boiling water and put the plug back in!!!
When I went for my bath later there it was - AGGGHHHHHH!!!!

Re: yuck cookie ate a spider

Ours chase, catch and eat spiders. The only thing that bothers me is the trail of destruction they leave behind them, plants and anything else on the windsill are all sent flying! They make a right mess!
