Since you all tend to give such good advice wondered what you think of this. Nala has had a couple of bouts of mastitis during feeding the kittens and you guys gave me great advice last time about separating her from her babies. Unfortunately she has not taken this at all well and I let her back with them today as she was really distressed and was not eating. The anti-biotics are finished.

I read somewhere that the kittens can still suckle up till they are 12 weeks old and will naturally stop by then. I don't want to stress Nala and wondered if this was the case and I could maybe just leave her with them. Also the CPL are going to home the kittens for me and I wonder if they would be happy to let them stay with me for this long. They are only just confident now with wet food and 2 of them are starting to look at the dry food. I feel they shouldn't go until they are completely confident with their food.

Thanks Wendy, I knew you would put me straight. Will go and phone the CPL and tell them I will keep them till they are ready!

Mum will probably have dried up by now,so it will be more comfort suckling but i'd try and separate them for a good length of time as sometimes mum can hold kittens back in their independence and put them back to square one
