That is so true Wendy If we're at a cat show, then Jag can't be taken on his walks that day and we come home to find he has chewed all sorts of things

Re: Need loads of info on introducing cat to a dog

We had an old cat Jasper he'd have been about 11 when we got Duke our SBT as a puppy. Jasper was set in his ways and Duke was playful, boistrious (a little git).

At first I was worried Jasper would injure Duke, and then I was worried Duke would injure Jasper. Unsupervised they were separated, I must admit I was a bit over protective of both of them it was about year before I left them together for any length of time unsupervised, they were fine and were good company for each other.

We were looking into getting a big dog and a medium one
What if the big dog would like to play with the cats and bite them
I think i am just thinking always about the worst what can happen but i just want to make the right decision.
That wont happen if the dog is trained... My Parents have a Rottie x German Shepard, she's a big girl!

She is so gentle with kittens, even when My parents cat was a tiny baby she was brilliant!

Not sure I agree with that, we have a Border Collie and he's great with the cats. We've had dogs of both herding and hunting varieties stay and had no problems, Yorkshire Terriers and Jack Russells have been the problem dogs regards the cats.

We've had a Northern Inuit stay with us and he was brilliant with the cats, they are generally the softest dogs you can find and are brilliant with other animals. We leave our dogs unsupervised with the cats because we know we can trust them, we would never leave any other dogs alone with them though.

So far what i have heard it shouldnt be a big problem with the cats...but what if the cats wont accept the dogs
My 2 can get really jeaoules at other pets.

I think its a risk to take and see what happens and then sort things out somehow

Jesus you are a worrier!

I'm sure they'll accept a wee little puppy and grow to love him/her!

We just really hope things will work out....my oh didnt agree with the job yet he got offered where we would like to move to so we will find out soon
I just like to move away from here anyway as we have no garden nothing right now. Not good for us, not good for the cats as well space wise.

Well good luck anyway! I'm sure it will all work out with the pets at least!

They recommend feeding Northern Inuits raw by the way!
