Wormer Confusion

Ok - i used to buy Droncit spot on as its easier than giving pills.
The vet nurse told me that this only kills one type of worm, so i switched to Panacur paste.
This time when i went to the vet she said it doesnt kill all types of worm.

Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Whats the best to use? I used Panacur cos its for kittens, queens and cats??

Re: Wormer Confusion

I use the paste on all of my cats, i've never had any problems with worms of any type. I think if they are out catching mice, birds ect, then the stronger ones would be needed. My vet says that because they are house cats Panacur is just fine for them

Re: Wormer Confusion

I belive (but may be wrong) that panacur does not protect against the tapeworm Dipylidium canium related to the flea.

Re: Wormer Confusion

I use mibblemax tablets from the vets, they are really tiny, and much easier to administer than drontal. not sure if they are ok for pregnant cats/kittens, but i'm sure someone will know.

Re: Wormer Confusion

Yes we use Drontal too and it's been fine but then all our cats are indoor cats only

Re: Wormer Confusion

Why do you worm if they are indoor cats only and don't go out?

Re: Wormer Confusion

Just for peace of mind really for potential new kitten family's-though we feel it is unessacary given that we rarely go out to stud and none of our cats/kitts are at any risk from the various other ways of catching worms/fleas-better to air on the side of caution we feel
