Does this sound positive for a first meeting?

So we bit the bullet tonight and let Bella (4 yrs) and our new kitten Boo (5 months) meet face to face tonight.

He was pretty laid back, and more keen on exploring the rooms of the house he hasn't seen yet. Although he did keep chirruping at her and trying to smell her face, she'd let him get within a couple of centimetres and then she'd (quite quietly) hiss at him.

They had about an hour of walking around together, with her following him and then hissing if he tried to get face to face.

She also ambushed him a couple of times, and spat a bit. But no one was hurt and he wasn't upset by any of it.

We're going to try again in a bit, as he got quite tired and needed a rest (he was badly abused before we got him and had 2 broken legs, so one of them is still a little weak where's he's never really used it - all of his bones are fixed, but his muscles need to get strong)

Does this seem like a pretty positive first encounter?

Re: Does this sound positive for a first meeting?

They had a few meetings last night, and have now been together most of today, bar an hour or so that we went out for, and we put him in his room while we had dinner as he'd have climbed all over us.

Each meeting has brought less and less hissing, and all they really do now is watch each other from afar.

They ahve oth just slept loads in the same room, bt quite a good distance from each other. I feel like they are sleeping a lot!

Is that OK do you think?

It sounds very promising.
I think at night i would separate them while you are in bed as you can't keep watch on them.
we adopted a 11 month old in April of this year and out other two cats are 15 years old. They reacted similar to what yours is doing. IE a little hissing.
So at night i would put the young one in another room to sleep until i knew in my mind that they were going to be all ok.
I also then started to feed them all together.
Occasionally the young one wants to play and jumps them, so i have a little spray bottle with water and that does the trick.

Yeah, we will keep them apart at night and while we're out for a while. Also mainly because Bella loves sleeping on the bed with us, and we want her to have some time in each day where it's just the 3 of us like it used to be.

Also I think if we let him out we'd get no sleep! He's pretty hyper.

How do your 3 get on now?

Our 3 get on very well
It's just sometimes the little one wants to play and the old ones get annoyed and start hissing. So i then use the water spray. It stops him in his tracks
This morning when we woke up there were three on the bed. All sleeping like logs.
We did it like you for a few months Harley slept in another room. Most of the time he still does. He likes to sleep in the conservatory, but now the cold nights are here he's looking for warmer places!!
