Smile Kittens scratching Sofas

Hello, my 6 month old kittens scratch my sofa quite often. They don't do it intentionally as they make good use of the scratching post. However, they do it when they're about to jump onto the floor to pounce at each other etc. Is there something I can do to protect the sofa as it is soft leather and was expensive. Will they stop clawing any time soon?

Also, they play all night when we're trying to sleep, will they learn our sleeping patterns and calm down at night? One of them, the male, likes to get under the covers and scratch us too, which means I have a disturbed nights sleep every night!

Please advise!!

Re: Kittens scratching Sofas

Thats Kittens for you, they usually do like to play at night and it's you they'll learn to train for their sleeping patterns-they're very considerate that wayAlso are they a breed or moggies? They may calm down if they get neutered/spayed if thats what your doing-as for your sofa-do you have upstanding scrachposts or flat ones, know it sounds daft but some aren't fussed and some kitts have preferences, but for now put an old sheet or some sort of protective cover over your sofaHi btw and welcome along-do you have piccies

my sofa's are covered with thows, i have a friend who has arm rest covers to protect her furniture. you could try trimming the very tip of the claws too so they dont hook into carpets and furniture as much.
as for sleeping patterns, my boy is an excellent sleeper, my girl cat is a pain, the only thing i can advise is to ignore as much of it as possible.
