LOL - sounds like shes made herself right at home Rick. You'll become addicted to cats in no time. Does she rule the roost over your dog?

She has put the dog in it's place a couple of times, which can only be a good thing.

Me and the cat are getting on nicely, I have a cushion for her on my desk!

How do you stop them 'scratting' at the carpet?

Re: New cat coming, any advice appreciated!

sounds like she's territory mmarking, not really any way to *stop* it per se, but give her something she *can* scratch in that area (matt, cardboard scratch pad, carpet sample, whatever) and spray with catnip spray... lets her fulfil the natural urge and keeps your carpet safe.

Once she is using the new scratch item to can slowly edge it out of the way if it is in an awkward spot.
