I know of somebody whose OH is getting a cat today but he is very concerned because he really doesn't like cats. He's especially worried about relations with the neighbours, as cats are notorious for causing havoc in other people's gardens, for example. Funnily enough, he does look at this forum, on the dog side, so I was wondering how we could cheer the poor bloke up and help him realise that this cat is going to bring joy and happiness into his life, not just misery and poo. Please help, this is desperate!

Poor bloke, sounds like he got bullied into it Thing is I gotta side with him - though I love my cat, forcing on onto a person who doesn't like cats will just cause friction. If he's open to the idea and finding out if he could like them then fair do, but if it's all animosity tset it just doesn't bode well.

I know many men that dont like the idea of cats until they actually get one then they are worse than us! lol

My OH was like "hm, nothing to do with me, I'm not a cat person, I'm a dog person" but u should see him talking to them in such a cutesy way, snuckling them, and they are often both asleep curled up on him of an evening. He goes "No, I'm not a cat person am I Hawwy Bo face, naaar" lol. It took them about a minute to become our family- and that's just how it is.
Lol a lot of cats have a funny way of sitting all over people that don't particularly like them, and nudging their faces lovingly with purrs - usually enough to melt even a heart of stone after a while. Plus if the cat gets on with the dog most dog lovers will start to like them too, albeit begrudgingly!

my oh always says he doesnt like cats and has always been a dog person, now i think he misses the cats more than he misses me when he is not here coz as soon as he is in the door he is looking for "his" muffin then he sits down and lifts up maxine and cuddles her. as for the neighbours, they could offer to get them some "get off" so that the cats dont go into their garden

Yes, I have the feeling he's coming round to the idea already.
