That's good, I was just about to say we had a homecheck years ago and they were far more interested in the garden and the general area than they were in the state of my home.

Re: adopting from the rspca

Before we adopted Mary two years ago from Rspca, we didn't know what to expect either as we had never had a rescue pet.
All they basically did was had a look around the garden, just checking that there wasn't any dangerous things left lying around, and made sure the garden was secure, also they suggested we get a cat flap and asked where Mary would sleep/eat etc, and asked a few questions about medical treatment/vet visits etc.

I hope your home visit goes well and you can take your girl home.

Re: adopting from the rspca

Congrats on finding a new cat! The homecheck isn't really a big deal, they'll just have a chat and make sure there's nothing that would cause a cat problem. A she'll be indoors they'll probably check how secure your windows are and things, suggest you put ornaments and things in other places etc. Try not to worry!

Re: adopting from the rspca

thanks for the replies everyone

will they really need to check the garden?? i mean the cat will never be out there so i don`t see what difference it makes (our garden looks like a bomb just went off since we`ve just had a conservatory built and the builders left things everywhere but it`s been too wet to get out and clean it :S)

typically the woman rang yesterday to arrange a visit and have a chat but i was in the middle of london and it was soooo noisy so now have to hope she rings tonight

That's a good point, maybe not. We had our house check years ago, before anyone really thought of keeping cats indoors permanently. I shouldn't think they'd be worried by a temporary bit of builder's rubble anyway, and they'll be impressed by your lovely new conservatory for the cat to sit in.

Re: adopting from the rspca

i had the home vivist, she basically just came in and explained the procedure so all that worrying over nothing!

we got a phone call on friday to say that the cat had taken an eye infection and we`d have to wait until until today so that she could see the vet, longest weekend of my life (made shorter by visits to her of course).

just got a phone call and she`s had the all clear and is booked to come home with us on friday, i can`t tell you how excited i am thanks for all the advice!!
