Cat allergy!

Does anyone suffer with a cat allergy on this forum? I need to know if an air purifier actually works. Or if anyone can suggest anything I could try.

Thanks

Re: Cat allergy!

I do and I have 4 cats I take 2 hayfever tablets once in the morning and once at night. I usually keep a few windows open also but mainly I am always washing my hands after playing with them.

I think an air purifier would be a good idea

Re: Cat allergy!

You could try homeopathic Feline Hair as a remedy- it acts as a desensitiser.
Worked a treat on my husband.
Have you tried Petal Cleanse?- you wipe the cats with it and it removes the allergens from their fur.
An air purifier can help- but it doesn't deal with coming into direct contact with the cats.
How long have you had them (it) for and what breed?

I also take anti histamines and wash my hands after stroking my cat.

I have had Tosca for approx 3 months. He is a British Short Hair and I have had Sammy for 4 weeks. He is a moggy. I have just had some Beconase. I found it in the cupboard.

Will look into all these. I suppose it does not help with the cats sleeping in my room at night! Seems to be worse today.

Thanks everyone!

Re: Cat allergy!

I have to say that in general, I am not very sympathetic to alternative remedies...but I also have to say I have seen remarkable results produced by Chinese Medicine.

The yellow pages will list practitioners in your area.

Re: Cat allergy!

I don't have an allergy to cats, but I have heard that living with cats can help to allieviate the allergy over time. Unfortunately I have no personal experience of this.

Yes I think I better stop letting them sleep on my bed! I am such a soft touch.. Lol. I have just got some Benadryl from Sainsburys. Ive taken one but my nose and eyes are still streaming and itchy! Ive had the Beconase as well. I dont normally get it this bad. Will keep taking them and see if it gets any better.

thanks
