Some websites that I have been on suggest getting two if you are not at home for most of the day.

Would love to hear what you all think!

Thanks!
we took a whole litter home with us, as there was 3 in the litter and we wanted two but didnt want to leave one so took all 3, but i think its best for a cat to have a friend as they are social animals, and being from the same litter you know they will get on really well.

Re: One kitten or two...

I think kittens are always better in pairs. It gives them someone to play with and cuddle with, they're more fun to watch, and I've never noticed that they bond less with me because they have each other. My one cat, when he was a kitten, got lonely. I got him to perk up the 9 yo brother and sister I had, but they just wanted to adopt him. He's not a good solitary player, so he seemed a bit depressed. Back to the SPCA I went, got another kitten and they're the best of friends now.

Re: One kitten or two...

Thank you all for the responses, your comments have been really helpful!

We were definetly going to go for girls whether it was one or two. I thought girls would be more likely to get on as well.

I am looking at breeders now but we won't be getting them until after Christmas - so excited though!! I've always had dogs in the past when living at home so looking forward to getting some kittys!

tip on this, girls may n ot get on as well as you think, we have 4 males and two females, and the two females dont get on at all but they both get on with the males, and all males get on with each other. and the other female we had didnt get on with any other cat she hated them coming near her.

but that is just in my experiance, i dont know if thats what its like in famles, or just the experiance we have had,

anyone got any ideas on this for the op?

Re: One kitten or two...

2 is definately better than 1, it gives them a play mate when you`re out. i got 1 on his own but am now adopting a 2nd, it`s no more hassle to own 2 and it`s wonderful to watch them play together

Re: One kitten or two...

We have two kittens - I would definitely say it was the best decision we could have made. ( We were originally going to get one )

They are male and female and are from different litters but from the same breeder. They have the same dad. They are a few weeks apart in age, so were brought up together.
They have a great bond and love playing together, sleeping together, grooming eachother. It is so funny to watch them.

I know that they wont get lonely and depressed when me and the OH are at work during the day.
