Re: cats jumping on worktops please help!!

No pointing asking me to help mine have to jump up on to the worktops as access to their outdoor pen is via the kitchen window.

I simply ensure the worktop are thoroughly cleaned/disinfected before I prepare food.

Thanks very much for that - I got rid of it last night

That reminds me of many years ago when we just used to leave the kitchen window open for the cats to get in and out at night. We used to call it the "aerial catflap". Certainly wouldn't do that nowadays (in fact probably shouldn't have done it then, as London in the mid eighties wasn't exactly crime free. Actually somebody did try to burgle the upstairs flat but got more than they expected, there were half a dozen large Australian blokes there at the time who sent them packing).

Re: cats jumping on worktops please help!!

We have 4 cats and they were always jumping on the kitchen sides. My other half couldn't stand it as he would find cat hairs in the butter. YUK
He put up some shelves in the hall where the dog could not reach and never fed them in the kitchen anymore.
I would just shoo them off the sides in the kitchen and very soon they got the message. When the biscuits run out in the feeding station they all sit in the hall and stare at me.

Re: cats jumping on worktops please help!!

i don`t think there is a solution, my cat does it too. he works in league with the dog, he`ll jump up and knock something off, the dog will tear it open then they`ll both get down to munching on it. if it wasn`t so funny i`d cry

I only leave the window open when we are in, well if we aren't going to be long and the cats are happy outside in their pen, we will leave it open.
