Re: cats jumping on worktops please help!!

I can't help feeling that sticky tape idea sounds a little cruel. Maybe I'm just silly but it is naturel after all for a cat to jump and climb so why prevent it just work round it is what I'd say. Hmm well I guess I'm just the daft women who sits on the floor because the cats on the sofa.

I wouldn't really call it cruel, as I guess it merely offends the cat's dignity rather than causing pain or injury. I'm just too fond of my home to do it (read too many Ideal Homes style magazines).

Yep thats it, it offends their diginity. How could I, a mere homo sapien ever do such a terrible thing like that?

They've really got me wrapped around their velvet paws huh? lol

Re: cats jumping on worktops please help!!

Well Dorrie has just discovered that she can get up on the worktops too. She has got stuck behind the fridge twice because she walks along climbs onto the micorwave and jumps down behind the fridge. I go looking for her and hear her miaowing behind the fridge because she can't get out.
She wants love and cuddles then as she feels sorry for herself, even though she got herself there in the first place
Anyway she hasn't done it since Sunday as she did it when I wasn't home and Katie phoned me to tell me and she had to get my ex to pull the fridge forward to get her out! Little Minx!!

Re: cats jumping on worktops please help!!

I used double sided sticky tape for a week or two and it seems to have worked... the boys only very rarely forget themselves (if someone leaves sarnie meat out for example *glares at brother*...)

Advantage of that over a water pistol is it even works when you aren't there.

Re: cats jumping on worktops please help!!

Because some of our cats used to jump on the worktops too, we bought a special spray with a motion detector. The spray detects the cat jumping up on the worktop and at first will give a sound signal and after that it'll spray a harmless non toxic fluid.
I googled and found this site: Cat Repellent Spray | MultiVet SSSCat Automatic Cat Repellent Spray
But I bought mine with zooplus.

An environmental health inspector's worst nightmare! Still, at least you won't have mice. And they are adorable looking.
