Cat Shedding Hair Problems

my cat Monty is constantly shedding hair and the place is a mess due to his fluff lying everywhere, he is a british shorthair lilac point, he is big and has a very thick coat.

my other 2 cats are not a problem and one of them is a british shorthair tabby, their coats shed in a normal way so its only at certain times their shedding but Monty is constantly shedding.

Is there any suppliments or diets we can put him on to make his shedding problem better, he is fed 1 whiskas meat pouch per day and the rest he eats iams dry food.

also any tips for cleaning up the hair, i have laminate flooring and its murder to sweep up as the hair blows all over the place when trying to sweep it up so some magiuc cleaning thing would be good that would help cleaning up the furr.

any suggestions
robert

Re: Cat Shedding Hair Problems

not sure if there really is a prevention solution, some are more prone than others. The zoom groom brush is as good as prevention, costs around a fiver, cats love it and it removes loads of hair, less around your homean less hairballs!!

some cats shed all year round.
after i brush FELIX my turkish van long haired i use a silk scarf to shine his coat this usually bring out the loose furr left behind by the brushes i use perhaps its pick up furr from your shedding cat but check his skin to see if its scailley and flakey this might suggest a problem with diet also if he scratches allot but hasnt any fleasseek a vet for advice if this is evident.

also you can get an electrostatic mop like the old swiffer ones they are quite cheap and work well on laminate

Re: Cat Shedding Hair Problems

Just daily brushing I guess would help keep the fur down. A slightly damp cloth/mop is good for getting fur up from the laminate.

This is good for getting fur off stair carpet

I agree with what most of the other users have said... I don't think there is much you can do to prevent the hair shedding. The brush works well. And so does the damp cloth thing the last user mentioned.
