i once had a british short hair tabby lost to the road 2 years go. he got on fairly well with my cat felix and hunted together ate together slept together i had him at 6 weeks old. . he was laid back loved a tummy tickle and kids not really vocal and liked being picked up, occasionally laid on my lap and would spend hours next to me when i was ill. because of short furr suffered with fleas more than my turkish van long haired but treated periodicly and controlled he rarely had them with advice from my vet. then can grow to a fair size too. especially male ones.

Hi, I have 4 british shorthairs, 2 moggies & a devon rex!

The british shorthair are really laid back and will come to you when they want a cuddle. They make wonderful pets and get on well with my other cats. I would definitely recommend this breed.

Hiya just to add they are really laid back (sometimes too much!) lol I never found it to be a problem when introducing other cats, as long as he gets fed first that is! lol I also love the black tipped

Re: British short hair

Hi, I think there are quite a few BSH owners on here We have two, brother and sister Frank and Phoebe who get on great with each other. They follow us around the house, and are always interested in what you are doing. They love running water as well so are intrigued by a flushing loo, washing up and the shower! Have recently added some pics on my profile page if you want to take a look. Would definitley recomend BSH!

Re: British short hair

Hi i have a british shorthair male neuter hes now 8 months old and vey lively . Hes been fine with a friends cat when he came to play and followed him about. Hes totally mad and dashes about when hes having his funny eve mad hour or two but inbetween hes laid back and a real sweetie . They have a fab nature and are lovely cats. Have found ours needs a good brush through or he gets a odd fur ball. Although there are some foods that help to stop them, so im going to have a look. some day i am going to get another but a colourpoint female . As ive never owed a female cat and love the breed.

Re: British short hair

Hi, We have 2 BSH and 1 Domestic. One of the BSH we adopted this year, aged 11 months. He is typical of the breed very laid back and loves cuddles.
People often refer to them as the Teddy Bear Cat.
We were not sure how they would get on having 2 fifteen year olds but no problem.
I must say the BSH is one of my favorites and when i go to the cats supreme at the NEC i always head there first.
I just wish i could have more. Perhaps one in each colour

Re: British short hair

I have a 7 month old BSH and he is very independent. He does like a cuddle now and again but only on his terms! I have had him for nearly 3 months now. He is really filling out now and looks like a cuddly teddy bear. He goes to sleep in the spare room but always ends up in my bedroom, on my pillow above my head with his legs draped round me. He loves his food and follows me everywhere. I got a rescue kitten over a week ago and he is 16 weeks old. My BSH was growling at him at first but now they tear around the house together, sit together and eat together. As you can imagine my rescue kitten is a lot smaller than my BSH. They do grow pretty big. Good luck!
