I definitely understand what you mean by this as I was always in defense of getting shelter kitties but somehow my partner managed to talk me into getting a BSH, mainly for the fact that he is allergic to cats and he found that this breed might be most suitable for people with allergic tendencies.

I cannot think of a better more loving and gorgeous baby than our Pepper (now 6 months), she has the best nature and unlike people seem to think British shorthairs are very friendly and do sit on your lap - not all of the time but they do love human company.

Amazingly my partner no longer is allergic to her anymore and Pepper is definitely a Daddy's cat, she will only cuddle with me when he's not home

I would suggest a BSH to anyone wanting a cat, they are so loving and lovely, and it does help that they are so beautiful! "Funny" story to end my post - the word about a cute kitten got around at the estate agents who were dealing with our previous apartment, and when my mother-in-law walked into the agents' and mentioned the address, a lady who had never even been to the apartment, went "oh, the one with the cat!" LOL.

Re: British short hair

hi
we had a cream chocolate point called Minnie who was stunning. She sadly got run over a month ago and we miss her terribly. I would have one again in a shot but be aware that the females can wander and that's what happened to Minnie. We keep other cats indoors now.
They are laid back, simple and very affectionate. have lovely coats and are solid cats. They have such a lovely nature - we would definately recommend them,
