what can i do to help.....

Hiya,
We recently bought an 8 week old kitten to keep our 1 and a half year cat company. WE have had the kitten for about 2 days now and our cat just does not like him at all. She hisses and grunts at him and will not stay in the house. Is there anything i can do to make it easier for them? and how ong does it take before we know if they are going to get on? Thanks

Basically, you have to let them work it out for themselves Katy. Cats have territory and a pecking order. With mine, they've usually taken a few days, but have had up to a week. Just keep to you older cats routine, i'm sure she'll be fine in a few days

Do you think those comfort zone plug in things will help?

There's no harm in trying the feliway plugs, I use the spray and it works wonders

there is mostly nothing you can do exept keep an eye out for bullying

the oldercat may bully the new arrival by stealing its food and genraly just being a pain in the behind

this is natural behaviour and dont be too concerned unless she attacks the little one

but in general she will in her own time accept the little one into her home

just keep an eye on em and in about 2 weeks or so they will begin to make progress but whats hapening is perfectly natural and they will eventualy bond
quite soon

good luck

drawn-to-animals will become famous soon enough
Re: what can i do to help.....

they just need to bond and get used to the fact that things have changed so they need to sort out whos in charge!!!! it varies in time from a couple of days to a couple of weeks....... it will get better with time just be patient - they'll sort it out in their own time when they are ready.
