Re: Rod Little Article todays Sunday Times

Article appeared this Sunday 1st November. But there has been a spate of these over last few months which makes the article very unfortunate in its timing.

Re: Rod Little Article todays Sunday Times

Article appeared 1st November in the Sunday Times. However I am sure that previous poisionings have been noted and the 1st Nov article possibly was meant to keep the momentum going. Just a thought anyone whos Cat is poisioned over say next 3 months send the vets bill to Rod Liddle and or the Sunday Times.

Re: Rod Little Article todays Sunday Times

the attack on cats is rampant. I stumbled across some horror in another forum this morning. I did not, thank goodness, view all the pictures, two were enough before I realized what I was seeing.

Two people (at least) went out in their car with a camera, and some other supplies which I will not label to spare you, targeting cats in yards and committed unspeakable atrocities while photographing. It's pretty clear they did it right in the cats' yards or neighborhoods. Probably left them there to die afterward.

There were 18 pictures posted by the time a moderator showed up. Whether they posted the same two pictures, or did this to 18 cats, I can't know as I did not look after the first. I urged the mod to report the ISP to authorities rather than deleting the account. I can only hope s/he did.

This is happening more and more for a few reasons. The internet gives these sick people an audience. It also gives other sick people ideas and they copy.

People growing up today are desensitized to violence. They regularly blow people and animals up in video games. War is in their living rooms nightly in the news. Everything is as large as life, or larger. Death and violence is an every day occurrence.

Cats are not viewed as anything but targets. Cats are more fun to abuse because they have a reputation for independence and aloofness. So these excrescences feel powerful when they torture maim and kill.

I cannot imagine letting my cats out and risking something like this happening to them. All it takes is once. Keep your cats indoors.

As for that columnist, I can't even comprehend how something like that was allowed to be printed in a family newspaper. I hope that paper loses all it's readers and goes out of business.

Even in this day and age, there still seems to be social acceptance of abuse towards cats. Comedians get away with jokes about killing cats that people laugh at, but wouldn't if you changed the animal for a dog

Same goes for Rod "small appendage" liddle or whatever his name is. Shame on not only him, but his editor that allowed such abhorrent material to appear in his newspaper.

Re: Rod Little Article todays Sunday Times

I don’t agree, we should never accept the day when we cannot allow cats outdoors because of sadists. Cats love and are meant to be outdoors if anyone tortures cats or any other domestic animal then they need to face the consequences.

Incidentally I have had response from the RSPCA who confirm they will be contacting the Sunday Times. They have had a very large response from the public to Mr Liddles article but are urging the public to write to the editor and press complaints commission also.

Who faces the consequences? The cats? Very few of these sickos are ever caught.

My cat are and have always been perfectly happy indoor cats. They aren't over weight or bored. And they are safe.

Though we don't agree about cats being outdoors, I am grateful to you for following through on this antifreeze thing.

Is this article not actually inciting animal cruelty, and can therefore be investigated by the police?
Though even this would be done I am sure nothing will happen as he will state "freedom of speech" and he is a "celebrity", and nothing is done against them in this country.

Are there actually any laws that would cover inciting animal cruelty (and not actually committing it yourself)? I know there are laws about things like race and religion but I'm not sure about animals.
