Re: found a kitten

I would go to the vets tomorrow as you have arranged, see if he is microchipped. If not they might also know if any cats are missing. Caring owners tend to ring around everyone. Speak to the CP/rspca/local radio/any local rescues in your area too if you haven't already done it to see if he has been reported to them.

If all these things come up blank and you want to keep him get him neutered ASAP as otherwise he will go a wandering again and may end up at someone else's door.

Re: found a kitten

good on you for taking him in, just because he has runny poo don't mean worms, maybe the food just not used to it,.if putting adverts up dont say what color he is or anything, just say kitten found.than any one who has lost one will know his color age etc,if you add all his details anyone will try and get a free cat

if you've used the frontline on him usally takes 24 hours to kick in

good luck

1. He may well be microchipped, the finder has not checked
2. Microchipping usually replaces a collar
3. Many many people let kittens out before they are neutered - especially male kittens because there is no risk of pregnancy. That does not in any way mean they are uncaring. This is an older kitten we are talking about, not a tiny one.

Re: found a kitten

Ask them to describe him first. They then cannot take clues from you.

To make sure it is their kitten, try and trip them up.
I am presuming he is all ginger.
If they say ginger, then you ask "not ginger and white?" and if they say yes ginger and white then you know it is not their kitten.

As Geordiebabe says if you think it is their kitten then ask all the questions and if it is their kitten they will be able to answer all correctly.

ps sorry i sound angry it just upsets me that people can be so irresponsible...
I disagree...I had a kitten approx 12 weeks old come to my back door crying. I let him in, fed him put a sign up in the shop window across the road. Let him stay with me the night and phoned cat protection the next day who came and collected him that evening. A couple of days later the owner rang me saying he had got out somehow and i gave them the number of cat protection to get him back.
Edited to say...On the sign i put up i only said kitten found. I never mentioned the sex or the colour or age.
