This is my home now

I was walking home and a cute tortie greeted me on the steps. I pet her, unlocked and opened the door. I turned around to give her a departing pat and she walked in as if to say, "This is my home now."

Poor girl got whisked to the vet and poked and prodded for the next hour. Now she's hiding in the bathroom. I've got to say I'm a bit baffled by it all. I've never heard of a cat just wondering in and choosing people. I just hope my renters don't find out.

Was she microchipped or anything? If she is so friendly maybe she has some owners looking for her.

Nope, I made sure the vet checked for that. She's got a torn ear and looks feral-ish (or maybe that's just my subjective opinion). I am keeping an eye out for any fliers.

Aww! New family members are always a gift ..
Hope he/she settles in well, and you don have to get rid of her because of your renters.

Re: This is my home now

Well, right now she (Serena) is spending most of her time hiding or hissing at Azuri who shares the sentiment. I'm keeping her away from the kitten as that fight would be pretty bad for him. From what the vet said, she's younger than my first cat so it should settle in fairly quickly...I hope.

Bah, if my renters found out I'd just have to pay 25 USD more a month. I'd rather save the money if I could though. I'd be paying 75 just for the cats to live with me.

I hope Serena and Azuri can get along soon. What a wonderful gift to have a friendly cat literally walk into your life!

Re: This is my home now

So, just now Serena ran out. What's the best way to go about finding her? I've thought about looking into the local animal control to check to see if she's found. Being a stray I doubt she'll get caught. She was due to get chipped in another week so I have no hope on that. Other than waiting and hoping any suggestions?

Re: This is my home now

Apparently she's lingering around my place still. She was just spotted, but no dice. I'm not sure how to get her back in. Perhaps in the morning when she doesn't vanish into the shadows I'll have more luck.

Re: This is my home now

she may very well have another home - even if she isn't microchipped - so she may be sharing herself and that's why she has gone out and not come back.

Re: This is my home now

The best way would be to try and put a collar on her with a message, in case she has an owner somewhere who doesnt realiese her cat is abit of a floozy!!
This happened to my friend. Fluffy just walked right in stayed around to have 2 litters of kittens. My friend rehomed all except Harvey and Grace, who lives with me and is currently sitting on my mousepad! Then after neutering she decided to live outside all summer just coming in for food.
She is now coming in more with the bad weather.

Maybe you have been chosen by a free spirit! Good luck with her..
