Re: People say keep your cats in on halloween?

Hi
Not sure who is best to answer this or what kind of an answer you want , for me all cats should be in every night and not left to roam , but the nuts out their on Halloween and bonfire nights common sense should tell you why.

Re: People say keep your cats in on halloween?

I wasnt asking the question in that position.. My cats do come in everynight. Except Toby because hes a hunter and when we call him he never comes home. Untill like daylight and hes moaning at the door.

I was asking like Halloween.. the night?? 6ish - 10.30/11ish.

Re: People say keep your cats in on halloween?

I would keep them in at this time just because there is going to be a lot of people out and about in high spirits. Trick or treaters can turn nasty (we had a firework thrown at our door once, we were out so didn't answer the door).

I think perhaps people are saying keep black cats in especially because people may want to steal them to add to their witch costume, only thing I can think of!

Re: People say keep your cats in on halloween?

I think its because people will harm black or and black and white cats because of thinking them evil or something

theres a petstore near by that wont sell any black or black and white cats a week before or a week after halloween.

Re: People say keep your cats in on halloween?

It is an old superstition, but a good idea anyway . Black cats were thought to be witches familiars and were killed in great numbers, especially around Halloween. I think this helped to spread the plague in the 1600s as there were lots of rats (and their fleas) and very few cats to kill them. Just a thought.... We reap what we sow!
