Hi all I am an exchange student from Hong Kong, currently studying in a UK university. (I am a super cat lover as well When I was in Hong Kong I took care of a group of stray cats with others.) I have to do a project on the pet culture in the UK that's why I need you !
Could you please help by completing a short online questionnaire about you and your pets? thz a lot!

1. How many pets have you got? 5
2. What kind/s of animal are they? Cats/Kittens and a Parrot
3. Where did you get your pet/s from? 1 Was homeless, 2 got given to me, 2 bought.
4. When you first own your pet, was it still young or fully grown? Babies!
5. What is/are the reason/s for choosing the kind/s of animal to keep? Cats/kittens are gorgeous and lovable, there amazing to be around. The parrot is my dads and he just loves the company of him speakin to him.
6. Where do you keep your pet/s? Cats/kittens roam the house and the parrots in a perfect cage in our living room.
7. How much time do you spend with your pet/s daily (approximately)? Hours with the cats/kittens. 1 - 2 Hours with the parrot.
8. What is your monthly expense on your pet/s on average? We get a big bag of parrot food what lasts us upto 6months £14.99 per bag. Cats get kitten and cat dry foods and wet foods. Id say.. £25. Including toys £40
9. Do you take your pet/s regularly for body check in vets? Yes, every 6months.
10. For DOG and CAT owners only: Is/are your pet/s micro-chipped? My dog WAS when i had him. Cats no, because we are building a Run at the side of the house so they dont dissapear anywhere!

3. Where did you get your pet/s from? The cat came from a friend, the rats from a local pet shop.
4. When you first own your pet, was it still young or fully grown? Fully Grown.
5. What is/are the reason/s for choosing the kind/s of animal to keep? Personal preference and temperament of the animals, plus ease of care.
6. Where do you keep your pet/s? my home
7. How much time do you spend with your pet/s daily (approximately)? 12 hours
8. What is your monthly expense on your pet/s on average? Approximately £40
9. Do you take your pet/s regularly for body check in vets? yearly for my cat, if there's a health problem with my rats.

3. Where did you get your pet/s from? Most from the shelter or rescued strays and a few from breeders
4. When you first own your pet, was it still young or fully grown? The first one was 6 months when we got her.
5. What is/are the reason/s for choosing the kind/s of animal to keep? I love cats, they're intelligent, loving and just simply amazing
6. Where do you keep your pet/s? All around the house.
7. How much time do you spend with your pet/s daily (approximately)? More then 10 hours a day.
8. What is your monthly expense on your pet/s on average? 200 pounds
9. Do you take your pet/s regularly for body check in vets? Yes
10. For DOG and CAT owners only: Is/are your pet/s micro-chipped? Yes
11. For DOG owners only: Who usually walks the dog in the family?
12. Did you buy pet insurance for your pets? No

Here are my answers for you

1. How many pets have you got? 24
2. What kind/s of animal are they? 2 cats, 1 Dwarf Hamster & 21 Tropical Fish
3. Where did you get your pet/s from? Cats from a breeder, Hamster from a pet shop, Fish from an aquatic shop.
4. When you first own your pet, was it still young or fully grown?All babies
5. What is/are the reason/s for choosing the kind/s of animal to keep? My husband and I always wanted a British Shorthair Blue and when 2 brothers came up for sale we jumped at the chance. They make perfect pets. The fish are wonderful and so relaxing to watch, and the hamster is just so cute!
6. Where do you keep your pet/s? Cats in the house, they are indoor only. The hamster in the kitchen, the fish in the living room.
7. How much time do you spend with your pet/s daily (approximately)? All day everyday. Im a housewife.
8. What is your monthly expense on your pet/s on average? Between £20-£30 per month
9. Do you take your pet/s regularly for body check in vets? Yes, monthly for the kittens until they are 6 months.
10. For DOG and CAT owners only: Is/are your pet/s micro-chipped? The kittens will be next week.
11. For DOG owners only: Who usually walks the dog in the family?
12. Did you buy pet insurance for your pets? Yes. Wouldnt be without it.
13. Please specify the reason for buying/ not buying pet insurance for your pet/s: They are pedigree cats, we invested a lot in them, and they have specific health needs which we need to keep on top of. Also we love them so much we wanted peace of mind that whatever happened, it was covered.
14. Do you think your pet/s is/are important to you? They are our equivilant of children at the moment!
15. Do you think your pet/s is/are important in your family? Most definately. We are all animal lovers.
16. If you were able to keep more pets, what would you keep? More British Shorthairs!
