Re: going away for the weekend

I can't believe that anyone would even contemplate leaving a 9 week old kitten alone for two days.

If you really don't have much choice find a reputable pet sitter in your area that can visit the kitten a few times a day but personally I don't think you should have a kitten in the first place if you have to leave it for two days, but that's just my opinion.

If you want this kitten to have a happy, healthy life I think you need to reassess your priorities.

Re: going away for the weekend

we dont go away, full stop!we have lots of animals and its just to complicated,if you decide to own a pet you have to accept these responsibilities.Did you know about this trip before you got the kitty?could you not have postponed getting it till after? Its a very bad idea to leave animal alone for that length of time, ive come home after a couple of hours to find a kitten stuck in the blinds!!you will have to make arrangments for someone to come in and check on him/her.

No way, kittens will get very loney and could get into mischief which could end up in her getting into trouble, and with no one there to keep an eye on her, could end up tragic.

Have you no family members who she can stay with? That's what I do with mine... I wouldnt even leave mine alone for 2 days if they were fully grown cats!

I can not beleive u have the BA**S to even say about leaving a kitten on their own for 2 days or not maybe you should of thought about it before you got it, there must be someone close that will look after it??

Re: going away for the weekend

ROFL and as a newbie to the forum I was trying to be polite and tactful.

I fully appreciate Clare's post as we also have not been on holiday since we started breeding. The one holiday we did take back in 2001, we booked a cottage and took our 1 cat and our 2 dogs with us lol. It was a diaster, dog got sick due to different water and cat got out. Came home early

Maybe this lady's holiday came up as a last resort, spur of the moment opportunity? But even so, the fur child must come first. If you're a first time cat/kitten owner, then maybe you aren't aware of the responsibility it entails? Cats are like human children, we agree to share our home with then, we assume responsibility for them. You wouldn't leave a human toddler home alone would you? No, then why a kitten? Although now having just re-read the thread and Tashi's post, I will go and source that one out.

Re: going away for the weekend

Another NO from me too - The only times I go away I take all 4 dogs with me and some friends come and look after the cats and bird.....2 days without any humans about is 2 days too long!

Re: going away for the weekend

Can you not put her in a cattery for 2 days??
I would never leave a kitten or cat on their own...
