Annoying neighbour's cat
Hi
I wonder if anyone can help? I have two cats who use a dog flap and lately a neighbour's cat - which we call horse cat - has started coming in to our house. I was concerned for her welfare so rang the number on her collar and they said she was probably just lonely as they worked full-time but to shoo her away. The problem is this - for the third time we have found one of our cat's fur all round my daughter's bedroom and loads of poo on the duvet/walls etc etc Today I have found this cat's collar so obviously some major fight has gone on. It looks like I will have to throw away a third duvet as poo is everywhere. Is there anything I can do apart from locking my own cats in? Should I call the owners up again - but what can I say to them? Any advice gratefully received ![]() |

Re: Annoying neighbour's cat
You could try using a spray bottle. Every time you see the neighbours cat coming towards your entrance, spray it with water. Other than that the only thing I can think of is getting an infrared cat flap that will only let your cats in. Staywell 500 Infra-Red Series

How about a microchip catflap

Re: Annoying neighbour's cat
I Say get a Microchipped cat flap or one of those where your cats have a Magnetic device on there collar and lets your cats in and out whenever they please.

Re: Annoying neighbour's cat
I would recommend the microchip catflap.
It is not fair to expect your neighbour to keep horse cat in so really the onus is on you to keep horse out of your house and to provide a safe haven for your own cats. There are 2 types of chip flap: electrical socket powered and battery powered. They are provided by rival businesses (and I mean rival!) You have to get your cats chipped, but that isn't such a bad idea. If they are chipped already you can test the chip number on the petaporte site to see if it is recognised. A chip flap is expensive (£70-£110 depending on where you get it) but it is programmable in other ways than just ensuring your cat is allowed in. Magnet/infra red flaps work from a tag on a collar, but are cheaper (I think). However collars get lost and can be a danger for the cat unless quick release. |

Re: Annoying neighbour's cat
Hi
Thanks for the advice. Both my cats are microchipped so I will have a look maybe into getting a micrchip flap. The only problem is that my car flap is actually a dog flap but maybe they have those too?? I have blocked up the flap at the moment and keeping mine in or out through the door until I can sort out the problem. Thanks |

Re: Annoying neighbour's cat
Another option would be a cat fence or enclosure.
