Re: Please help - Indoor cat now whining to go out

We bought a Maine coon Kitten when he was 8 weeks (Ollie). By The time he was old enough, He wanted out, out ,out. So we let him out, At first it was supervised on a lead ECT. Sadly Ollie wanted away on his own and strayed too far away and got run over just 3 weeks ago, We are - apart from Heart Broken and Devastated, to move to our new Home very soon with a big Garden to Explore, And plan on getting another Kitten, I will be Fencing our garden as much as I can to contain our new cat. R.I.P Ollie.

Re: Please help - Indoor cat now whining to go out

It is a tough one......my cat is an outdoor although tbo he spends most time in doors - it is hard when u hear them crying at the door...but if your cat has never been out then they will not be street wise and the chances of him being hurt will be a lot higher - plus even though he is nueutred they will still get into fights - I think a cat run sounds a good idea - good luck

An alternative to a cat run would be a Cat fence. It contains your cat and allows them to roam your garden in safety.

Re: Please help - Indoor cat now whining to go out

you do have a few options

cat fencing doesnt have to be expensive, have a look on the net, there are quite a few DIT versions. Even in a rented house, not that many landlords will mind you putting a couple of poles on a fence providing you promise to take it down when you move.

You could always build a cat run from aviary panels, so he can go outside but in safety.

I really wouldnt let a cat out that i had signed a contract on, i would also be very upset if that had happened with a cat i had bred or homed myself.

You could also take him outside on a lead and harness for supervised garden playtime.

Microchipping most certainly doesnt have to be done under anaesthetic, in fact most arent!

Just my thoughts.
