Visiting the shelter today ......... new cat time!!!!

Hi guys,

A little while ago I put a thread on here considering getting another cat to keep my Gizmo company during the daytime but didnt really come to any decision.
Well I finally decided to go for it as I cant believe how much having Gizzy has enriched my life and I think another cat deserves to be rescued and given my love too.
So I called the cpl fosterer I got Gizzy from and told her I was looking for another one and so I am going there this afternoon to choose or be choosen lol.

I am soooooo excited!!!
but have a couple of questions;

What kind of age cat do you think it would be best for me to get as a companion to a a 20 month old? The lady was saying a 6 month kitten but I am not sure, how needy are they at this age? or are they pretty independant by then? also my dad has said he doesnt really want a very young cat that will be running around like a looney!!

I just need a couple of pointers so I have an idea of what kind of kitty will fit in best!

Thanks!!

A six month old kittens isn't that needy anymore, he/she will be pretty independant bij then. Most of them will be pretty playful though.
I think the most important thing is to choose with your heart. You'll feel it when the right kitty comes along and they'll know it too
Young or somewhat older, male or female, you'll know
Have fun!!!

Re: Visiting the shelter today ......... new cat time!!!!

hi guys,

well I came home with a 5 month old boy called Billy.
He is black and white like Gizmo.

At the moment he is hiding somewhere in this room - I think he is behind a storage unit and I know he is safe there.

The cpl lady said he was often overlooked as a kitten as he isnt super friendly with people, though she assures me he is perfectly amiable he just isnt into being cuddled etc. but she did say he loves other cats so I am hoping the intros go well. If not I can take him back to her but I dont want to have to do that!!

ok stupid question time - how much food will he eat?
I asked what food he was on (normal adult food) but forgot to ask how much to give him!!

will post some pics in the week once he has come out of his hiding place
