No - wait, it's gone down to 6, the first one left for her new home about an hour ago.
When you can't quite count them, that's what I call too many! (I used to have six/seven/eight, all sadly passed away now, though they lived to a good age) and now I have just the three, which can be counted on the fingers of one hand.

Re: How many cats do you have?

2 and 1/2 (a kitten) at the mo - and a kitten coming to live with us in a month or so and then the kitten we have now (8 days old now) goes to live with his new mummy. SO we shall have 3 - and they will all get on cos I insist upon it!

Re: How many cats do you have?

Dread to think how much I spend!

To answer the original question, the current tally is:

Basil, Burmese stud (if he ever works out what to do)
Nigel, Tiffanie stud for next year
Danny, Burmese outcross stud for next year
Backup Burmese outcross stud (name not decided)
Gordon, Asian Variant stud for next year
Unnamed Burmilla stud for next year
Katie, Burmilla queen
Trudie, Asian queen
Cassie, Burmese queen
Mitzi, Tiffanie queen (if she ever calls)
Fiona, Tiffanie queen for next year
Dawn, Tiffanie queen for next year
Meeka, rescue spotted tabby female

Which is not only over the 6 my husband thinks I have, it's also over the 12 I have told myself I will have. However, some of the boys I am hoping to use for just one litter and then rehome, though it doesn't always work out like that (had planned to do that with two this year, ended up rehoming both before they had produced a litter, the girls did not co-operate!)

Temporary residents:

Choccie, leaving home next week I hope
Burmese outcross kitten (unnamed)
2 x Burmilla kittens (unnamed)

Liz

Re: How many cats do you have?

The most we have had at one time is 4, we have 3 at the moment and they have all always got on, Elvis very occasionally takes a swipe at the two younger ones but nothing serious is meant by it and they get over it very quickly. They all sulk when a new kitten comes on the scene though.

I'm intrigued. How can your husband think there are only six? Please tell us your secret, I'm sure some other people would like to know.

Well, he doesn't come downstairs, that helps. He does realise there are more than six at the moment but thinks the remainder are either temporary or out in the pens - at least that what he seems to think! One breeder suggested to me the "what, this old thing? I've had it years!" line, but I can't see that working. it does help of course if several of your cats are the same colour, my husband frequently says he can't tell any difference between the "miserable creatures"!
